Join us for a rafting or flotilla event. As a guideline, one weekend of each month is dedicated to an on-water overnight raft-up. The location of this event changes monthly, and can be RSVP'd on the Facebook page,  via email, or at the Meet & Greet. We also have impromptu raft-ups that are usually posted on the Facebook Page.

Three Cheers for Team Newport!!!

 This is the fifth time Sailing has been included in the games, starting with Sidney in 2002, Chicago in 2006, Cologne in 2010, Cleveland in 2014 and Paris in 2018. Over the years there have been close to 1,000 participants from 10 different countries represented.

The sailing competition for this event, was held in Le Havre, France. This is a coastal port approximately 200km's from Paris, and was the
site of the 1924 Paris Olympic Sailing Competition.
The event took place over three days, August 6-7-8. There were 12 teams competing with representativs from 8 different countries.


 The fleet was scored in two divisions, Competitive with spinnakers, and recreational without. In total there were 7 races completed and scored with each yacht's one worst score thrown out. (For a total of 6 races scored)

 Team Newport, consisting of Jed Pearsall, Bill Doyle, Brian Sweenor, Alex Randall and Steve Kinny, were representing Boys with Boats; the newly formed Newport chapter with over 150 members.
This is team Newport's 5th time competing, one of only two teams to have competed in all five Gay Games sailing competition. This is team
Newport's 4th medal and third Gold medal in the event.

 Team Newport won the competitive division against 8 teams in their division, with a decisive score of 9 (6 is perfect) with four firsts, a second, and a third.  Following were Team GUST from the UK, and Team
Knickerbocker Sailing Association from New York -- tied for second with 17 points, nearly double the score of the winning boat.

The regatta was sailed in provided J-80's which were drawn at random at the start of each day's competition.

Weather for the event was perfect moderate breezes of 8-12 knots and sunny skies.

Boys With Boats Goes To Bimini, Bahamas

Come along for a little island experience as we make our annual pilgrimage to Bimini, Bahamas where the cerulean seas have welcomed sailors for centuries. These waters offer some of the best scuba/snorkeling in the world.


We will rendezvous at our usual haunt of Bimini Big Game Marina for fun and laughter. Departing South Florida on August 2, 2019 and returning August 5, 2019. See our events section on the Ft. Lauderdale’s Facebook page for more information.
